Dana Petersen – L. Petersen Farms

Harvest continues for L. Petersen Farms!

Our corn, that we grew, was grown for silage. The fall weather of 2016 caused us to not be able to finish silaging this crop.

Corn silage has to be a certain moisture in order for it to be silaged and the corn had dried down too much by late fall. We did let the cattle graze some of it but we had decided that when conditions were right, we would be able to harvest the corn with the combine.

We have been working at it, little by little, combining the corn to feed the cattle. Today was one of those days when the conditions were good! It was a beautiful, little bit snowy, minus 7 degrees Celsius (19 degrees Fahrenheit) harvest day!
