Nancy Eberts – Eberts Harvesting Inc.

Truth be told, our HARVEST is all year…in many ways, shapes and forms.

For example – today (and in the next month) our calf crop is set to arrive. Five generations of Eberts men and women on this farmstead have raised cattle.

Today, I was able to be a part of a special delivery.

In an instant, a mother cow (and even a first calf heifer) may need some help delivering the calf. Many a year I was the one holding the “calf puller” or the mama’s tail and then the gate.  In the past few years, I have simply stepped back and let Mason (fifth generation), Myron and JD take those duties.  I still love to be a part of  it and enjoy watching our son take over with his strength and quickness. He’s a natural! Well, that and much more fearless than me and Myron, lol.

The video is slightly graphic but 100% reality and just a glimpse into part of our day. There was no time to get the calf puller out and ready today – that baby was needing to be born! So, Mason just put the chains around the calf’s feet and simply pulled. No problem…the calf was 100 lbs easy!

And how did it turn out? See the baby in the corner? All is well!
