Audra Zimmerman – Zimmerman Harvesting

Harvest – Volume 2

As we prepare to head out for Harvest 2017, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.  In the past month, Andy and I sold a piece of property here in Ohio and we are in the process of trying to sell our home, buying a new pickup and camper, making equipment repairs with money we don’t have – all while preparing to head out for what I will call “Harvest Vol. 2”.

Yes…we are selling our home.  No…we don’t know where we are moving to. Yes…I am tired of answering questions and having people look at me like I have three eyes.  Do all HarvestHER’s deal with people thinking your lifestyle is insane?

Things I have learned by becoming a HarvestHER….

God is #1, He owns everything, and can take and give at anytime.

It’s okay to be a “City Girl” and a HarvestHER.  There are a lot of things about the “farm/harvest” life that I do not like (to be quite honest, some of them I downright despise) but that is okay.  And it’s okay to remain a “City Girl” –  it’s who I am.

It’s okay to be different.  It’s okay not to be the typical “Harvest Girl”.  It’s okay to love my Ohio trees, paved roads, lots of people and the traffic while driving in a big city.  It’s okay that most of the other HarvestHER’s probably do not care for these things, but I do.  I’ll take Cleveland, Ohio any day over “Middle of Nowhere, Oklahoma”.

And it’s okay if the harvest lifestyle is not the life that I would have preferred to be living. But, I need to trust God that it will work out for the best.

Finally, it is okay to be different because God made no two people alike.

As we prepare for harvest 2017, let us all remember that the world is a big place and not everyone is the same as you. So be kind and to quote my favorite musical artist, “Don’t criticize what you don’t understand Son, you never walked in that man’s shoes.” Elvis Presley
