Amazing what one phone call will do in this line of work!

Yesterday I was leisurely working in my camper. I took all the stuff out of almost every cabinet. I decided to rearrange to see if I could utilize my space better. As I am taking something into the shop, my husband says with a big smile on his face, “Can you be ready to leave for Texas in the morning?” I just laugh and say that’s very funny! He said, “No…really. I just got a call from Bobby and he said it’s ready to cut” (mind you, we had not been planning on going to Texas since about March. Our farmers either didn’t plant wheat or grazed it out). We have cut for Bobby before but he is a rancher, not a farmer so he’s not a “regular” every year customer.

So, I head back to the camper, get everything back in the cabinets and then head to the house to get the boys’ clothes and move some food. Dillon and I have clothes for the camper and clothes for the house. I don’t move our stuff out but since my boys are 9 and 5, they grow like weeds so I have to switch their clothes every year. We all went to bed about midnight and got up at 6:00 to start loading equipment. We had an uneventful trip to Texas, praise God! We unloaded and were in the field by 3:00 pm. We only brought one truck and one combine so Colston is jobless, for now. But he got to fill in as combine driver today (mom supervised) while Dillon took the truck to town. Levi was with the farmer checking fields and they had to make a pit stop to pick up one of his cows from the neighbor…like I said, he’s a rancher – not a farmer.

This lifestyle is hard work and super stressful but it is also extremely rewarding!

Hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to everyone’s updates!

God bless,
Kylee DeBock
