Nancy Eberts – Eberts Harvesting

Since I arrived in Bison, we have had 2.5 plus inches of rain. It started Sunday and we were able to cut Tuesday; however, when moving to a new field, it was simply too wet.

Yesterday was one of the “sample a load” kind of days. The combine headers spent most of the day UP.

There was plenty of catch-up for me, as it usually goes. When I start packing the camper, it is organized and planned out but by the time I get to the office…packing it becomes, “throw it in a tote and go”!

The guys had a washing machine break down since the beginning of harvest and have been using the laundromat.  Upon moving to Bison, Myron opted for a simple washer and a clothesline for a dryer. It works for me and at least we are clean!

This morning we drove into Enid for parts and groceries.

With our drinks in hand, off we went to Atwoods. A typical parts run with Myron usually looks something like this:

Ran into fellow harvester, Kirk Grove, and chatted about things.

Kirk Grove

We started out saying no complaining and I was reminded of what Kirk told me a year ago which I have kept on my phone. He said he learned it in the service. An old drill sergeant told him, “ADAPT, IMPROVISE and COMPROMISE”!!! Good advice for the year ahead. As it is terrible dry at home, some crops are not coming up and others are burning up.  I just saw this morning on Facebook there are several prayer chains for rain.  I am on it!

Good news today as Mackenna (my buddy relaxing with me in the camper) is headed to Chicago to compete in the National Academic Tournament. She is one smart cookie and I wish her and the team the best! I will be sure and update ya ‘all.

Shout out to Dylan and Cody for some of the following pictures!

Bentley and Jesse…grandson and son of the farmers we are cutting for. You can see the combine in the background.
