Eberts Harvesting

It was a Gleaner “F” combine driving right beside me in my 2188 on my Dad’s wheat field.

I slowed down just to take in the view of my dad and me combining together on his land, wanting to hold on to the memory of this moment .

I can still see it today when I close my eyes. His white short sleeved western shirt , dark rimmed glasses, worn ball cap tipped just a little bit to the right and a big smile on his face. He looked ten feet tall and bullet proof.

I slowed down again for a moment, then smiled and waved back at him but had to pass before he saw me cry.

My father will always be ten feet tall and bullet-proof to me. He has eyes full of compassion for others and a huge heart, always willing to help out. His hands show the scars and bear the service he’s given to his country, his community, his faith and his farm.

Thanks, Dad, for being there, for loving mom, and for your faith, love and service to others. God is in control and I am so very blessed to have my parents still with me. Happy Fathers Day!
