DeBock Harvesting

“Cone of shame and many other things”

Early this morning, we awoke to the sound of rain beating on our metal box of a home.

No cutting for us today. Any decent harvester knows that absolutely does not mean day off. That just means you get to take care of the things you weren’t able to do on days you were busy in the field.

Started the first few hours catching up on invoices then showered and loaded “the boss” up and we went to the big city of Woodward. We had to set up a bank account for our hired help because apparently free labor is frowned upon and I will eventually have to pay him.

Next, was the radio store to get a couple new 2-ways because nothing will make you hate the sound of your loved ones voice like having it screech in your ear every 10 seconds telling you to adjust your header.

I decided to really milk my precious time with Casey by taking him to the furniture store. Not sure how many of you are aware but the floral printed, stiff foam that they display in a camper and call “furniture” is the opposite of comfy. Momma needed an upgrade.

After sprawling his 6’6 frame on every loveseat in the huge store, we decided on a couch. I think I know how he feels taking me jean shopping. Now that we made all the big decisions of the day, we hop over to the vet to pick up our toy aussie, Jack.

The past few weeks, it appears my delicate flower of a dog has found his., uhm.. frisky side. Every time we would look up he had run off to find some willing and ready young lady to sow his wild, wild oats with. With all of our traveling, this was obviously posing as a problem. So he got to visit the doc and kiss his family jewels goodbye, poor dude never even got to figure out what they were for.

I am now back at the camper and working on dinner while the guys are willing the wet, muddy field ready. I’ll do my anti-rain dance in the air-conditioned camper, thank you. That is basically our day, until we blog again!

*side note* I have a very lovely couch now for sale! It’s the one sitting outside my camper, probably providing some sweaty passerby a nice place to take a nap.
