Amanda Adams – Adams Harvesting

After being out of the field for a few days due to the amazing rain we have been getting, we were back at it yesterday! Between the rains and breakdowns, we got a little behind so we brought in a neighbor with two combines to help get the last of our wheat out of the field.

It’s crazy how much faster everything goes with a few extra machines. Our boys are doing great on the grain cart keeping up with the chaos. It was pretty much nonstop for ten hours for them yesterday. We have two trucks running to the elevator and our tandem is hauling seed wheat to the farm.

The field we are in is mostly sand so it’s a little drier than some other fields but there has been some mud. Not enough to cause any major problems though. The road to get to the field is pretty much just a two track that was full of water until a couple of days ago. Still muddy when we started yesterday but started to dry up pretty quick with the heat.

It has been humid and there has been dew so we can’t start cutting until around noon. So, that gives us all morning to service machines and get ready for the day. We should be wrapped up here in the next few days.
