Today was pretty uneventful. We got a good early start and by the end of the day got hit by some wind and rain.

The elevator we were sending the trucks to was loading out a train, so it took a little longer than normal getting the trucks back to the field. We filled a bin that holds close to 60,000 bushel and started in on our second bin.

This morning was pretty exciting! I learned how to check the shear bolts on the grain cart! It was nice getting to help the grain cart guy out with something since I’m a little weakling and can’t do as much as the guys. I also learned how to lube the chains on the combines!

We were cutting away and got an awesome lunch for one of our guys’ birthdays. He asked for pulled pork and ice cream and everyone loved it!

We were watching the clouds build and build and finally the lightning started, then the wind, and then the rain. I was trying to get some pictures of the storm and the wind got so severe it was blowing gravel into our eyes and shaking the grain trailer. I finally jumped down and began to park up. After running like crazy for the service truck with my lunchbox, my big bag, and water jug when I got there I think almost everyone’s eyes were stinging from the gravel and dust being thrown up, and my hair had turned into an Afro, I can’t lie. My darn camera cord got bent in my ‘big diaper bag’ as Turk calls it, so I couldn’t get the pictures of the storm on my computer. Hopefully I can show how neat this storm looked fairly soon!

What a better way to end an early finish than with some homemade cookies and milk! 🍪 And now another sleep in! I hope everyone’s enjoying Mount Rushmore! It’s so cool to see how many of you come through this area!
