Well, I’d say today was one of those days. But the best thing about today is we got done with winter wheat for our farmer!

This morning, for some reason, I was pretty darn tired. It was one of those mornings that you want to keep pushing snooze, but eventually you’re going to have to get up so you have more than 10 minutes to get your stuff together for the day. Has anyone seen those commercials that snickers has, that someone is really grumpy and they get handed a snickers bar and they are back to being happy?? Well, that was me today, but I don’t think even a snickers bar could fix this thing.
While pulling into the field this afternoon, I was pretty excited to see Kelly, our cook, in the field, riding in the truck with her hubby! Well like a dumb dumb, I wasn’t paying close attention and before I knew it I bumped a solid fence post with my truck. I stopped really quick to see what I had done and went running to Warwick (Kelly’s husband) to please help!! Thank goodness he was there to help bend the bumper out a bit and I was rolling again. I don’t even have a good excuse of why that happened! The gate entrance was plenty big enough, I had come into the gate entrance so many times before that, it wasn’t on a hill or anything, and I wasn’t even going fast…I just needed to pay more attention! So after debating whether or not to call Turk, I finally got the guts to do so. I told him, “Well, I may have love tapped a post…with the bumper of Buckshot…(his fav truck) and it’s not horrible…but it’s not awesome…so you have time to process this now before I see you and you can’t get mad!” And he took it very dang well! He hasn’t seen it yet, but still…telling him was half the battle!
Our “Cow Lives Matter” protesters are now rioting…breaking down fences and bringing it to the field! They are curious little guys!
We had pretty long lines at the elevator today. I think I sat in line for around 1 1/2 hours, but the people that work at the elevator are so, so nice. They would talk to you forever and ever and I would totally let them if we didn’t have combines sitting at the field. While we were waiting, Matt asked if I would like some ice cream. Well, of course I said yes!! Matt walked up the road while we waited in our line to get us some ice cream. Darcy helped shuffle his truck and Matt’s in line. When Matt came back, the ice cream was running down his hands, the poor guy! He said, “This stuff melts a lot faster here than at home!” (He’s from England lol) That got everyone in a cheery mood!
I also got the best package anyone could ask for!! My family picked some of the good cherries that were left in the orchard and mailed them to me!!!!! It really was like Christmas in July!

We dodged a pretty big and mean looking storm tonight.
Since we finished the field a little early, but it was too late to move the combines, the trucks got to park up a little early. So by the end of the day, I was in a bit of a better mood! It’s just awesome that although you’re having an off day, the guys can still manage to help out and put a smile on your face.
I hope everyone’s harvest is going smoothly!
1. Be ready to go at the drop of a hat...sometimes without a lunchbox.
2. Has removed the word impossible from her vocabulary!
3. Can hold a baby, take care of a toddler and drive a tractor or combine all at the same time.
4. Must be able to cook for a crew - large or small.
5. Must be able to read minds.
6. Must be able to banter with a parts man until he realizes you DO know what you're talking about.
7. Must be the entertainment director for those rainy days.
8. Be a wife, mom, friend, helper, cook, problem solver, taxi driver or extra crew hand at all times.
9. Can handle the call that makes you react, "You need what? When?" Dropping everything you're doing to make it happen.
10. At the end of the day say, "I really do love this life".
