Well between the hail and the drought up here, it has really took its toll on this poor wheat.

We were given instructions that if the wheat does not average more than 6 bushel an acre to move on to the next. Turk thought it would average more and luckily it did. We really haven’t been in bad wheat at all this year so this was really a game changer for everyone. The poor grain cart guy (Joe) wasn’t sure when to stay at the headland or when the guys needed to maybe get unloaded. The truckers waited and waited for loads and caught up on some sleep, and the combine guys got to go a little quicker than normal with a little lower header height than they’re used to.

Turk told me to go into town with a test pot and on the way I bumped Into the other half of the crew moving to Scranton, ND! I mentioned over the radio and was happily waving at everyone and Turk said,”Stop them and get a draper belt!” So, quickly, I’m trying to change radio stations and wave them down and I’m yelling,”Hey guys! Hey guys!” And noticed I was on the wrong channel! So thank goodness Aaron can read crazy lady sign language because I got him stopped and started searching his trailer and he didn’t have one. He asked over the radio and luckily the guy ahead (Blake) had one! They got pulled over (in a much better stop than the original one I had) and had to unroll the darn thing to get it from under the combine! The guys got it really quickly and rolled back up and in the back of the pickup it went.

It looks like they had a really good safe trip to Scranton although they had horrible wind through the move.

One thing to get adjusted to in these small towns is their grocery stores. They surprisingly have some pretty awesome produce selection here in Bison, but goodness I’m not used to paying over $5 for a gallon of milk!!! 😣 So, me making cookies and the milk being so high might have been a bad combo because you can’t have cookies without milk and I made two batches just last week. But, we should be so glad we are lucky enough to have a grocery store within walking distance and that everyone that works there is so darn nice!
