08/31/17 – Kenmare, North Dakota (video)

Nancy Eberts – Eberts Harvesting Inc.

Its been ten days since I checked inšŸ˜œ. What have I done?

Seems like a million different things – from harvest, to house, to farm, and family.

It’s funny how I can work in the office and as I’m headed to the bathroom, realize I need to scrub the toilet. Then when getting a drink, need to finish the dishes. Then when getting a dish towel,Ā realize I need to fold clothes. Then when taking garbage out, need to clean my pickup. Then, IĀ see receipts, need to get back to office work! Anyone else work like this?

Shout out to my ‘church ladies’ wonderful week of massesĀ  and visits!

I have made a huge dent in my “to do” list and even accomplished some fall tasks, as well as spending time with the guys in Kenmare. Running only two machines has allowed me some time to do things that over the last ten plus years simply got put off (once our kids were gone so was my help!) till, frankly, when harvest was done.

Myron was happy to see me!šŸ˜˜

The guys should finish up canola today and are in hopes of picking up more acres. Mother Nature, in all her glory, has been burning up Montana, flooding Texas and yet has managed to keep our North Dakota harvest very weather-friendly, which in reality simply makes extra work for a harvester “not likely”. Farmers are able to get along with their machines. Especially since, due to drought, the crops are far below normal. But that’s the kind of year it has been…one extreme to another, for everyone! There is no discrimination with Mother Nature.

Between wheat and canola.

One shined, one waiting.

Sunflowers go from beautiful to brown.

Thanks Josh! Now there’s a “been shining hand”! (Canola)

The leaves are turning and it has been warm days beginning with cool mornings and ending with cool nights. Fall harvest is next and I still have a “to do” list but much more doable than ten days ago!
