Family…tractors…good food…no wonder I am tired!!
Today should be the last of the 90’s here in North Dakota and that’s a good thing for me. I am ready for fall weather, food and harvest! Sometimes the “time” between harvesting can be “less routine” and that makes for a tired NaNa! I enjoyed another fun-filled weekend with old tractors, grandkids and activities. I realize it’s Tuesday, but somehow it takes longer to get things back in order after all that fun.
A couple of crew members took some personal time and we have two new ones, all in preparation for the upcoming fall harvest.
I enjoyed the New England Days parade in New England, North Dakota on Saturday. There’s something about watching your grandkids wave at everyone from fire engines to horse riders and collect candy in an ice cream bucket that makes your heart and soul grateful! America proudly on display; a small town where kids and family can roam, laugh and play.

I am telling you, some of the best kettle corn EVER! From regular to s’mores to bacon or jalapeño flavor! So many flavors and such a great treat. Ladies she ships!!!!!
Two of our granddaughters came back to the farm and spent the night with us. Oh what fun an air mattress can be! Maci joined Brystol and Brynn at the house for a while!
The girls even came with me to St. Joes for my Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting. Happy meals work wonders!
Sunday brought the annual “Taylor Days” in Taylor, North Dakota. We took six tractors this year and not only entered them in the parade but also entered them in the tractor pull. Don’t know of anywhere else one can simply take a tractor to a tractor pull without paying an entry fee. The crew (what was here) enjoyed it, especially since two have never pulled before. Myron’s brother, Lee, proudly drove my OLIVER (you know, like the one I tipped as a child).

The day ended with a wonderful birthday party for Madelyn who turned four years old. There is something about little girls and unicorns that make you believe in magic.

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to attend Brystol’s “Grandparent’s Day” at her school and truly enjoyed the time with her other gramma (who, by the way, is also named Nancy) and listening to her and friends read! I was taken back as they are already reading…I am getting older I guess! My body tells me all the time but my heart sometimes thinks NOT…and my brain tries to please both. 🤣
Myron and the guys are keeping busy with preparing the choppers and trucks for silage, and making bale racks to haul hay. We still have one machine up north. All will come together this week as we wait on the “beans”.
I made these cupcakes this morning – they truly are easy to whip up. I did bake them longer than the recipe called for (almost twice as long). I didn’t think they should jiggle. They smell wonderful and will go great with Tator Tot Casserole for supper.
Going to try the vegetable salad recipe I received from our customers in Goodland, Kansas. Remember Marsha and the smiley sponges?
All the time it took to write and send this, they are done and marvelous!
I do want to give a shout out to Tracy, our fearless, supportive, hard-working leader…who simply is gracious and grateful for all of our entries. She still has to upload and, in my case, adhere to my request of editing as I am still learning! She makes us all look good and is always, always excited and happy to hear from us!
