Audra Zimmerman – Zimmerman Harvesting

I had asked Tracy to put a challenge out there to all of the HarvestHERs for a holiday/off-season check in. I am so excited to see what Nancy Eberts is cooking up for the holidays.

I am not a very domestic person. Here is my excuse: I went to a private Catholic, college prep, high school in Fort Wayne, IN. My graduating class had 200+ students (mind you, this was a very small school for Ft. Wayne). In my freshman year, we had home ec rooms and the seniors took the class. You would walk down the hallways of the second floor and just salivate over the yummy smells from the senior class baking chocolate chip cookies. Then, along came sophomore year and with it a computer lab. This was about 1992.

Well, guess where they put those computers? You guessed it…the home ec room. Out with the cookies and in with the desktop computers. Needless to say, there was no cooking my senior year of high school – but I am pretty handy with the computer. Makes for a good story and a good excuse as to why I’m not a good cook…but my mom sure is.

Since harvest ended and we are back home in Ohio, Andy has been helping a local farmer friend with various odd jobs and trucking grain.

I have been working at our local gym and preparing for my yoga class at the USCHI convention in January. I received my yoga teacher certification this past June. I hope to see you all at my class. It will be a gentle yoga class (great for beginners or those you have never participated in yoga) and, no, you do not need to be flexible or skinny to do yoga.

Andy is hoping his beloved Buckeyes make it to the college championship game since his Cleveland Indians didn’t do so well in the World Series. That was a sad day at the Zimmerman house. “There’s always next year.” As a side note, I am an Indians Fan, but I just can’t bring myself to cheer for Ohio State. I consider myself a “misplaced Hoosier” being from Indiana.

We do not have a professional baseball team in Indiana. I need to stick by my Notre Dame fighting Irish, even if they have their scholastic downfalls.

My birthday is December 12th and my Christmas decorations do not go up till December 13th. I do not mix my anniversary, November 30th, and my birthday with Christmas. It’s just my rule. And, most of the time, I am too much of a Grinch to put them up anyway. I am not a big fan of the commercialization of Christmas. Some years, Baby Jesus is the only decoration at my house. And, I do put out my Santa quilt which my mom made for me when I was in college.

Anyway, I hope to hear from my other HarvestHER friends to see how your off-season is progressing and hope to see you at the convention in January.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
