12/12/16 – Colby, Kansas

What a great weekend in Colorado celebrating my grandpa’s 89th birthday!

This weekend, I went to Colorado to help celebrate my Grandpa’s 89th birthday and to see a lot of family I don’t get to see very often.

My grandpa is one of my most favorite guys in the world. He is so smart and was one of Shelby and my best friends when we were little. I would always pretend to be sick when I was in elementary school just so I could spend the day at grandma’s and grandpa’s house. They spoiled Shelby and me a lot!

Grandpa taught us many lessons whether it was biting me back (really hard, I might add) when I bit Shelby and teaching me to treat others how you want to be treated. Or picking my sister and I up off the sopping wet ground after we had a collision on our bikes, saying “no blood, no foul”. He would always take us to the grocery store to pick out a doughnut and chocolate milk and tell us all sorts of stories on the back patio. He would kill spiders with his bare hands (huge ones!) and blow out our burning marshmallows when they were on fire while we were camping.

My cute little niece that is now crawling!

We are so lucky to still have him here and we cherish every moment we get with him!

While I was back,Shelby got to sneak me into her schedule to clean my teeth at her office which I have been dying to see. What an amazing place she works at with even more amazing people. The dentist she works for is so, so friendly and his wife and family are so welcoming. I could have talked to all of them for hours and hours! The assistant and secretary are all very nice, also.

Shelby cleaning away!

Although I absolutely hate that she had to leave Kansas, it was so great to get to see she is working at such an advanced office, with such nice people. This office has digital x-rays that take no time at all to take and they have a TV above the patient so they can watch Netflix…ya you didn’t read that wrong! Your kiddos can watch Netflix at the dentist!

Once Shelby was all finished cleaning my teeth, we got to switch spots and I got to get back into the groove and cleaned hers! It’s the best having a sister as a hygienist! If you’re ever in the area and need your teeth cleaned, Silver Leaf Dentistry is the place to be!

We even got some cookie decorating in!

The weekend spent with the family always goes way too fast.

I love my sisters dog! He is the best!

Turk lucked out and got to go to Big Ed’s steakhouse in Bird City with the guys. Goodness, that place has the absolute best prime rib! The drive from Colby to Bird City is about an hour and a half one way, but it is so worth it when you get there. Their steaks are HUGE and so good. If you’re thinking about going with a group of people on the weekend, you might want to call ahead of time to make a reservation.

The guys are working on trucks right now. They are working on annuals before three guys have to leave to go home (England) on Thursday.

In the office, Turk is on a mission to get CHAMPs done and has DeAnn and I trying to help and fill in the blanks for that. Turk is also working on hiring next season’s crew. So, if there is anyone wanting to come on harvest this next season, make sure to get your applications in on our jkdharvesting.com website! We would absolutely love to hear from you!!

I hope everyone is staying warm!
