Lindsey Sterkel – Deibert Harvesting (JKD INC)

For the weekend, everyone got some time off while waiting for our corn harvest to start.

The weekend started off a little rainy and then cleared right up. Some of the guys set off to Denver and others stayed here in Colby. I’m so excited to meet Stu’s other half that flew in Saturday from the UK! She is going to help cook this fall while we are split and it sounds like she’s going to spoil us some more! I’m not sure how we could be more spoiled than what Kelly does, but it sounds like Iona is a pretty darn good cook!

The combines needed a bath!

My sister came to Colby this weekend and brought her awesome little dog, Hank. It was so fun getting to show her Turk and my house for the first time. Shelby helped me hang and arrange pictures inside, while Turk cleaned out the gutters and mowed outside. We have a huge squash plant that has taken over the garden and Hank learned to paw the squashes off…by the end of the day, he had 3-4 of them off the vine and was chasing them all over the yard.

Turk and I had to head to Wichita to sort visa stuff out for Turk. Luckily, everything went really well. We had a nice night and found some fountains next to our hotel that played to music. It was so cool! Although we were in Wichita, of all places, it really felt like we were on vacation. It was pretty nice!

We are back to the grind getting combines ready for fall, working on trucks and calling farmers down south to see when they think they will be ready to pick. It’s nice not to be running and rushed getting ready for corn this year. Although it is very odd to have time off.

I hope everyone is doing well!! I love seeing how everyone copes with school starting and harvesting all at the same time!
