A Little Granny Time

Kristy Misener – Misener Family Harvesters

Home harvest has ended here.

I picked all of the remaining produce of the summer. All that was left was an ice cream pail of tomatoes and four green peppers. So sad to have it end. I wanted to save the remaining veggies from the cold. The temperature dropped to freezing last night and the high was only 53 degrees today!!  My mums look good though!!

The Crowley girls.

The Crowley girls and I had a good, but tense, day today (10/16). Lots in the works. We prayed, ate and prayed more.

First:  We lost our blue heeler, Jesse, for a while today. She has a bad cancer on her hind leg, side and muzzle and has been suffering with it all summer. When she didn’t respond to our calls, we all feared the worst. She was only resting near by and didn’t hear us call for her (her hearing has deteriorated, as well).  We all were grateful to have found her!!

Second:  Coming home from a fast trip to Walmart (to purchase a fast, fun supper), we were stopped on the road half way home by a train. The train was fun, but not what it was doing. One of the cars was loaded with coarse gravel. Two workers were walking alongside the car, opening the trap underneath to slowly let out gravel onto the railroad bed. The downpour of rains we had washed away gravel. It was interesting, but we sat there twenty minutes or so. Killed our fast supper!! So, we had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bananas and Little Debbie cakes, instead.

Then, off to our second night of auditions for the local theater production of a Juney B. Jones play. Clara, Lauren and Martha are all trying out.

Third and most important as it colors our whole life: Our Evie is back in the hospital again. She is having surgery to repair her shunt. It is not draining at all.

Evie

Wednesday morning (10/17): The long-awaited, important phone call from Evie came in. She’d had a tough and painful day with tests and procedures. She was in good spirits, though, and talked with all of us at length. She is in surgery as I write this. The girls are all doing their part with prayer, positive attitudes and keeping busy.

Back again:  She is out of surgery. It went well.  Her surgeon completely replaced a new shunt into a different ventricle of her brain, tested all the parts, including the drain to her abdomen, and pronounced it good!  She’s in recovery now. Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow!

Wednesday evening:  We all spoke to Evie tonight. Facetime really is a marvel!  Each of her sisters, Elizabeth, me and Dan (on a different call) all talked to her. She has eaten strawberries and was gonna go do some crafts with a nurse. She was pale and tired looking. I asked her how she felt. She said her incision hurt some but not her head anymore! So she was feeling good! Telling comment from our innocent, little girl. She didn’t realize she was commenting on how her head ached before the surgery. So things are looking good!!
