Kylee DeBock – DeBock Harvesting

The kids got out of school in March for spring break and never returned due to the spread of Covid-19. What a challenging time that was for students, teachers, and parents but we all survived!
However, I hope it doesn’t happen again. God created teachers for a reason, they are very special individuals with the patience of Job and some parents just aren’t suppose to teach their own children. One of which is me!
I am not sure how the summer passed so quickly but the kids will be starting school in less than two weeks! As of right now (Aug 6th), the kids will be returning to the classroom on August 18th in Powers Lake, North Dakota.
Colston will be playing football again this fall and he is really looking forward to it and I am looking forward to watching him play!
After the fun trip to Eastern Oklahoma to spend Fourth of July on the lake with my family, we loaded up and headed to Sidney, Nebraska! We had a good week’s worth of work but with green wheat and rain delays, it took us a bit longer.
Once we finished there, we loaded up and made our biggest move of the season from Sidney, Nebraska to Hardin, Montana. It’s an all-day drive and we made it with no trouble.
Our first load we only took one combine and the tractor and grain cart. Our Hardin farmer does the hauling so the kids got to have some time off and just be kids!
The KOA has a pool and they swam almost every day. It was a nice change of pace for them since they had worked so hard all summer. We enjoyed several play dates with my friend, Laura, and her two children as they were staying at the KOA, as well.
One afternoon, my friend, Amber, and her two boys came and joined Laura and I as well. We enjoyed an afternoon of swimming and then headed down to The Farmers Daughter General Store for some ice cream.
Dillon and Jeff cut for a few days in Hardin, then it was time to make the trip back to Nebraska for more equipment. Colston and Riggin stayed with the Uffelman’s while we were gone and boy did they love that!! Renea spoils them just like they were her own grandchildren.
Hardin is a special stop for us because of the Uffelman Family. Even though we no longer cut for them (they have three combines of their own now), they will always hold a special place in my heart. We have made a friendship over the years that I will always treasure.
We have met them in Las Vegas at the NFR a few times and had a blast. We spent Thanksgiving at their house last year and Dillon and I have become godparents to Skyla, Brandon and Chelsea’s daughter!
We are so blessed by their family. Our stop in Hardin is a short one so we never get enough time there with them but we sure enjoy the visits!
We are now cutting in Havre, Montana and this stop is the kids’ favorite. Our farmer has children close in age and they have A BLAST here. They build forts, sleep out on the trampoline or in a tent, have fun at the junkyard building stuff or tearing stuff apart, they rock climb, ride bikes and anything else they can think of! They too have built long lasting friendships with Rhett and Rainee!
Harvest is many things to our family but I’d say the most important thing we can take away from our harvesting experience is the friendships we have made while on the road! So many special people that we would never have met had it not been for our Harvest travels!
