End of Summer!

Kristy Misener – Misener Family Harvesters

I haven’t checked in for quite a while. This has been such an odd year for me. While Dan left on harvest, I stayed home.

I haven’t accomplished much on my list of summer to-do’s, but have been busy anyhow!! I can hardly believe that the summer has flown and fall is here but that’s what the calendar says! Fall equinox! If the calendar wasn’t enough of a hint, the mornings are cooler and damp, with fog on several occasions.

My sweet sister and her hubby gave me a very large swimming pool for my grandkids to play in, which they all loved and used well this summer. It is time to drain it now and store it away until next year. The kids are busy with school activities, and my little Evie is going to be unable to swim for at least six to eight weeks. She had foot surgery today (9/24) in Kansas City. The surgery went well but she is in quite a bit of pain. Her foot is also having spasms which makes the pain worse😢. She has an incredible spirit and will pull through just fine. She’s only eight years old and isn’t a newbie to surgeries: this one makes number nine.

So, the pool needs to be put away before cold weather comes.

I’ve been battling a family of raccoons. Tim, Katie’s husband, has been helping me. So far, we’ve trapped three of them, but the biggest and craftiest is still on the loose. We’ve seen it on the game cam. Monster!!

I’ve got a regular zoo out back. Besides the five coons we’ve seen on the game cam, there is also:  two mangy cats, an armadillo, a big dog, and multiple rabbits!

At least one grandchild has stayed for a sleepover most nights. And I’ve gotten to spend quite a bit of time at Emma and Evan’s house in Kansas.  Leslie, 9, commented the other day that when he knew I was going to stay home “alone” he thought I wouldn’t have anything to keep me busy. He said he’s “tired” of my lists of things to accomplish!!  However, I have made him an admirer of John Wayne. He absolutely loved McLintock! We’ve watched several other John Wayne movies too.

I’d better get busy if I want anything done before Dan gets home: the days are moving fast!
