Our first load is headed down to Vernon, Texas!
Reports from the drivers have been mostly about road construction. There have been a few bumps in the road (almost literally!) but it has been mostly smooth sailing. They landed in South Dakota on night one and just north of the Oklahoma border on night two.
We knew right away this trip was going to be different than any other year. Knowing that many hotels are not open, we planned to have enough beds throughout the semis for everyone to sleep in. We also knew finding open restaurants would be difficult. On Tuesday before they left, we all got together at the shop and planned meals they could take with them. From deer sausage to chicken wraps to chicken salad, they should be eating pretty well!
They have about 240 miles to go before they turn around and come back so we can do it all over again.
When she's not on the harvest run, she teaches elementary school. She is currently the first grade teacher at Fessenden-Bowdon Elementary. Teaching is her passion during the winter and it’s even better when she gets to teach family!
