Introducing Karli Rothschiller – Dvorak Farms

Hello everyone, thank you for accepting me into this wonderful group of women! My name is Karli and Grant is my farmer (and Fiance), we are 21 and 24 years old. I grew up a city girl in southwest North Dakota, with only an occasional visit to a friends’ farm from time to time.
Grant and I had been dating for five years when he asked me to move in with him – on the farm near Gladstone, North Dakota. I moved in under one condition, I needed myself a little buddy in the house – so along came my fur baby Cooper (the black dog). A year and a half after I moved in, he asked me to marry him (the date is set! 9-29-18). As I am typing this, I am almost two years into living on the farm and let me tell you…it has been a fun, crazy, stressful, and amazing journey. I have learned so much about Grant, myself, and farming (mostly farming).
In 10 days, I graduate from college with my Bachelors in the Science of Nursing degree and will become a Registered Nurse (Grant and his family like to joke about having a nurse on the farm…they think it’s a pretty good safety net!). I will be working full-time in town and drive the 30 minute commute to and from, each day. However, my job doesn’t end there – as many of you know! I am the chauffeur of all chauffeurs, the best sandwich maker, an un-paid house maid, and a part-delivering superwoman. I could go on, but I have all of the next harvest seasons for job description updates 😊 .
Many of you may have read this poem before and I, unfortunately, don’t know who the author is, but I identify with every phrase and I hope some of you will too! (this is merely an excerpt and not the entire poem)
~So God Made a Farmer’s Wife.
[And on the 9th day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, “The farmer needs a caretaker”. So God made a farmer’s wife.
God said, “I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, feed the farmer, work all day in town, come home to work alongside her farmer, make supper, and then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board”. So God made a farmer’s wife.
“I need somebody with arms strong enough to keep up with the farmer yet gentle enough to cuddle a newborn baby. Somebody to run for parts, help in the fields, move trucks, deliver meals, look the farmer in the eyes and tell him ‘I love you and the life we’ve built’ – and mean it”.
So God made a farmer’s wife.]
And this is where my introduction ends…because I should be studying for finals!
Thank you for reading & stay safe out there!
