Kylee DeBock / DeBock Harvesting

And just like that, we are on harvest again. This year will be our 20th season on the harvest trail!

Dillon and I were naïve 21 year old kids when we started, but I am so proud of us, the business and life we have built for ourselves! It’s been a lot of hard work and dedication to get to where we are today!

We didn’t get any hired hands this year, so it will truly be a family operation this year! I am really looking forward to the season ahead and the family memories we will make.

The boys got out of school on the 18th of May and we thought we were going to be without a job for awhile.

The drought had hit northwest Oklahoma pretty hard and a lot of our farmers decided to insure all their wheat out or they baled it up for hay or turned their cows out to graze it off.  So we were not looking at having a job till late June.

But, as always, God is GOOD! I had a farmer contact me via Facebook and he had some wheat to cut in Altus.  After explaining to him that Dillon was planting in North Dakota so he would only get me and the kids, he graciously said he still wanted us to come.

It took three trips to get everything here (Thank you Matt and Levi for your help) but on May 29th we were all moved down and spent our first night.

The next morning, we did some last-minute tune ups and were in the field by 3:00 (Altus had an inch of rain on the 28th so needed to wait for sunshine) and we have been cutting every day since.

Loading up and ready to go

I am so proud of my boys. When I talked to them about taking the job and told them that dad wouldn’t be home, they were still all for it and excited to take on the challenge!

First day of Harvest 2023

Things have been going very smooth and I have enjoyed these few days working with my kids. Colston (15) is running the combine, Riggin (11) is in the cart, and I am running the truck.

The elevator has been less than five miles from our field so I am able to keep up with just one truck.

Time with my boys! ❤️

We are cutting by the Air Force Base so we’ve got to watch planes take off and land all hours of the day and night. It’s very neat to watch these massive cargo planes!

Today is June 1st and Dillon just got finished with seeding today!!  He will be headed south tomorrow. He’s driving so he probably won’t be down with us until Sunday! We will be so HAPPY to have him home. He’s been gone since April 21st!

I hope you will continue to follow our harvest journey throughout the summer on HarvestHER as well as DeBock Harvesting on Facebook and/or Instagram.

God Bless,

Kylee DeBock
