Missing My Right Hand Girl!

Dana Petersen – L. Petersen Farms

Our daughter decided to skip out on “most” of harvest this year and I am missing her like crazy!

We only get these kids for such a short time and here she is already taking off to explore the world without me.

I am trying hard to grasp this “letting go” stuff but it’s really kind of hard. The biggest help this year in thinking about “letting go” is attempting to see things and see life through the lens of their eyes and not look backwards through the lens of my own eyes and not dwelling on all the things that I’m going to miss.

Gone are the days of kids begging to go to the pool, slip-n-slides outside of the camper, tents set up outside to play in but instead now I get texts and phone calls filled with excitement and explanations of how her day went. I love that our kids are healthy and happy and ready to take on the world! But that doesn’t stop me from missing her and having to do ALL the dishes ALL by myself!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and it’s good for her to see what “summer” is all about (for those other people who aren’t harvesters) and to realize, that in her heart, I know that she’d rather be harvesting!
