September 24th Harvest Update

Kylee DeBock – DeBock Harvesting

Goodness it has been well over a month since I have put out an update on the DeBock Harvesting Crew.

When I last posted, we were in Havre, Montana.  We had a great stop there, as always, and the boys had lots of fun hanging out with their friends.

While waiting on some green wheat, we were able to take a fun-filled day-trip with our crew to the Museum in Ft. Benton.  Everyone enjoyed the afternoon exploring the town and on our way home, we even took a ferry ride across the Missouri River.  It was a really neat experience.

Once finished in Havre, we made our way to our last stop of the year, Powers Lake, North Dakota.  This town is a second home for our family. The kids are enrolled in school here for the first semester, so we stay until Christmas break.

Two batches of plum jelly! Yummy!

Last year, the weather was so bad by this time it had already snowed several times and had rained almost every day.  So there was not much cutting going on in the month of September last year.

However, this year, we finally got to witness the Indian summer everyone has always told us about.  The temperatures this September have been beautiful. Most days are in the mid 60’s with some days even being in the 80’s.  We have only experienced a few rain delays this year. What a difference the weather makes!

Working in Tioga

With all the weather delays last year, we were still cutting in November, right up to the week before Thanksgiving when a 10 inch snowfall put us out of work for the rest of the year.

It is FOOTBALL SEASON and that is one of my favorite times of the year.  I have always loved watching football but now that Colston and Riggin are playing, I enjoy it so much more! Riggin plays flag football through the church and Colston plays through the school.

Football season is my favorite!

Colston’s team has only had two games so far but they are 2-0!  Colston is doing really well! He has scored four touchdowns thus far in the season – three in the first game (one was a pick-6) and one in the second game (which ended up being the only score of that game)!

God Bless,

Kylee DeBock
