Kylee DeBock – DeBock Harvesting Inc.

We have finished out another stop!

We will be pulling out of Alva, Oklahoma tomorrow morning. One combine is headed to Woodward and one to Seiling. So we will be about 15 miles from home.

This year’s wheat crop in Alva was nothing to write home about. But, honestly, for the type of year, our farmer raised a pretty good crop considering the weather conditions. But even though the crop was not great, we made some great memories here this year.

Tracy Zeorian was contacted by Bonnie Nerud from Nebraska wanting to join up with some harvest crews in Oklahoma and Kansas. Her husband, Jeremy, grew up on harvest – his dad harvested in the 80’s and 90’s. After Jeremy’s high school graduation, he left with a harvest crew for his own adventure.  So, he wanted to show his kids what harvest life is like. So, they packed up and headed south to meet up with some crews and, fortunately, we were on the route they had chosen. They came and spent three hours in the field with us! They arrived around 7:00pm and stayed till we finished the field…a bit after 10:00.  The boys played football and Sawyer played with Zoe (our dog)!

After dinner, we were ready to cut wheat. Bonnie and Sawyer rode with me and Jeremy and Thor got in with Dillon. But after just an hour, we had another visitor, Paul Hore. Paul is from the United Kingdom and works for a company called Harvest Support USA UK. He provides H2A workers to harvest crews and he came to Oklahoma to check up on some of his placements. He wanted to see Gleaners in action so my friend, Jada, whom he’d been visiting, gave him my number.  Jeremy and Thor got in the tractor with Colston and let Paul ride in the combine for a while.  It was like we were playing musical equipment for a little bit.  We all had an amazing time visiting and watching the kids play. Bonnie and Jeremy are making memories with their kids and I am so happy we were able to be a part of it because this will be a wonderful memory for my kids as well!

Thanks, Tracy, for setting this visit up and for all you do for the harvesting industry.
