Writer’s Block? JOY and On the MOVE

Grandparents day with Madelyn.

Nancy Eberts – Eberts Harvesting

Webster says the definition of writer’s block is “the condition of being unable to think of what to write or how to proceed with writing”.

2018 has been an interesting year…to say the least (and it’s not over)! The reality is there is more “not so good news” or “unique circumstances” that have been taxing on a lot of crews in a lot of different ways. It’s no different for the farmers in the stages of planting and growing the 2019 crops.

Our farmer sent this before fall harvest started.

Harvest is not, nor has it ever been, a textbook or a “planned to a T” kind of thing. Just wait five minutes and things can change from heat to a storm (even snow) or to crew members coming and going. Times change and people change.  As men and women of the harvest, we simply keep moving forward and hope for the best.

Every crew is unique and how they handle the ups and downs of harvest is unique.

I try to not dwell on all the “tuff” stuff. There is enough anger in the world and, as time ticks away, everyone is making the best of their own situation. So, I may tend to “block” anger out. Plus, there is the real fear that I have already written that same thing for the fifth time over the last few years. Kinda like camper, field, sleep, repeat. lol

Or, for me – breakfast, laundry, lunch, bathrooms, supper, office, repeat.

The reality is my “block”, this last month, came in a few different ways:

I fall-cleaned my house. From walls and ceilings to closets, floors and cupboards. I even organized my craft room and office.  I can’t remember the last time I ever did any of that BEFORE soybean and corn harvest. I think the campers were packed and unpacked a couple of times, as well.

Squeaky clean.

I enjoyed playing with my grandkids in the green grass and the fall crinkly leaves.

Brystol and Brynn.
Maci at the pumpkin patch.

I snuggled and watched two little boys grow as the color of their eyes changed (or not)!

I colored, played and ‘crafted’ with my granddaughters. Hugs and kisses galore for this Nana.

Maci was using my phone while I was babysitting. 😘

I donated, worshiped and attended burials and prayer services. And increased my prayer life.

I thoroughly enjoyed being able to binge on Bonanza and Gunsmoke as I crocheted a blanket for our daughter.  Who needs Netflix when you have INSP? 🙂

All these things (in addition to the farm and crew being here) were the bits and pieces I was 100% present for and these moments were worth every second. This was, and is, JOY.

Pap reading.

PLUS:

I got some quality “silent and alone time” as the crew went on ahead without me…now that’s a treat.

BUT, I am heading back to my camper, hubby and crew tomorrow and am ready and excited to be there to help, serve and HARVEST as well as share many more HarvestHER stories and videos.

It is what we do. It is what it is. It is US!

(I think Myron is about out of cereal and beanie weenies, anyway.)
