BT Harvesting

We’ve finished cutting the first field! It’s a wonderful feeling knowing the wheat is dry and the combines are moving! Captain and crew are pretty happy to be busy again 😃

The guys learn what they will be doing that day during the morning meeting.

Since there was a heavy dew on everything this morning, we left early and went to the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge, and it is such a neat place to visit! I could have easily stayed for hours taking pictures of the prairie flowers and the buffalo. I’m hoping on my next visit I’ll be able to get a peek at the elk they have there as well.

With all this rain, the mosquitoes have gotten quite large…and hungry! Last I checked, I had about 20 mosquito bites. 😳
In an effort to try something new, I decided to get some mosquito repelling plants to put by the door of our trailer house, in hopes of deterring them. I got them potted this afternoon and will let you know if they really do work. Fingers crossed! 🙏🙏

My “mosquito repelling” plants – Lemon Grass, Lemon Balm & Lavender.

Sometimes dinner can be a bit tricky. You just never know what is going to happen. I had dinner ready to box up and take to the field (which is about an hour away) when I heard the guys would be headed back soon and I could feed them here. But…there was quite a line at the elevator and the guys were delayed getting back. It’s frustrating to spend time getting dinner ready, only to have it be dried out or luke-warm by the time the guys get it, but that’s how it goes sometimes. The unexpected happens all the time. Thankfully tonight their dinner could be easily re-heated when they got back!

It’s good to be in the field again!

Looking forward to a full day of sunshine, wind and cutting tomorrow! ☀️🌾
