When you think and talk about harvesting, pictures of equipment (all colors, shapes and sizes) as well as crops of all varieties pops into your head. There are videos and pictures that show everything working and lined up with a beautiful background sunset. They simply take your breath away! It is true, those pictures are real but there is so much more involved in this life of harvesting. Unless you actually go on harvest and complete the run, you may never understand.
HarvestHER does a wonderful job of letting those of us on this journey explain our days and nights. It’s the next best thing!!!
2017 will be one of those years that will be talked about for a while. Mother Nature has made an impact and areas affected are strung out across these flyover states. It’s not over, by any means, but it is being felt.
With that being said, I want to share my wonderful day-trip on June 13, 2017 to Kiowa and what it has meant to me.
In all of the years combining, transporting equipment, hiring crews, breakdowns, mud, and the harvest life in general…it’s the friendships that make it all worthwhile!
These are the true gifts/benefits of what Myron and I do.
I got in my pickup and headed to Kiowa yesterday to visit some girlfriends. I needed it. I know enough that taking care of me is as important as a clean camper and book work. What a gift! They encouraged me, made me laugh (and cry) and by the time I got back to the camper and made supper for the guys, all was good in my soul.
Years of love and support for our family and to our business. It just keeps getting better. Forever grateful!
The grocery store in Kiowa (IGA) holds tons of memory’s – so many, I simply can’t name them all. As a HarvestHER, the grocery store is the place you could spend hours, you’re appreciated, acknowledged, and always run into someone you know.
There are countless women who have made our harvest journey SO worthwhile, I couldn’t possibly name them all, but I always include them in my prayers.
Today (06/14), we were movin and rollin! Southwest Kansas wheat harvest…today and through the weekend, the temps will be in the upper 90’s and whatever is green will be turning fast!
