Jenny Burgess of Burgess Hill Farms

3rd full day of harvest done!

Started out a little humid yesterday morning mixed with clouds. We thought it was going to rain, but it never did.

The corn is still looking good. Day before yesterday’s field averaged 110 bu/ac. That’s great for dryland and even greater that it’s our personal best on our farm. We usually tickle right at 80 here. The sun finally came out and it was a pleasant afternoon. I stayed in the combine all day.

My dad helps out with grain cart when he isn’t at his job. What a blessing. Mom helps pick up the kids and feed them while we’re still working. There are never enough thank you’s when it comes to family helping out like that.

We’re hoping it doesn’t rain too much. It’s predicted and we’ve still got 2 1/2 days left of harvest.

A great harvest moon last night sent us home.
