J & H Harvesting

Today was one of those days where you plan out the day and everything actually works out accordingly! Mark it in the books!

We finished up our jobs here in Enid. The crew was awesome and got the machines blown out and ready to road back to the loading zone while we settled up with the farmers. We decided to load up in the evening thinking it would be cooler in this stretch of hot and humid days (100+). That part didn’t necessarily work as planned but they were good sports and got the duals taken off, machines washed and got everything loaded up even with though it was still 100*.

Their reward was to enjoy a nice sit-down-meal! Not something we get to do very often on our crew. They enjoyed a traditional Danish meal since the majority of our hired men (and my husband) are Danish. After supper it was time to get everything cleaned up and get what we could packed up in the campers so we would be ready to roll at dawn.

As I crawled into bed, I looked at the forecast for the next stop and it is 100% predicted rain. I jokingly said to Flemming since it’s going to rain we could just sleep in and leave at 9 instead…. Part of my idea worked, I guess… We are up at 5am listening to it dump on us. Guess we won’t be leaving until it lets up. So much for the sleeping in part! Coffee is at least hot and strong!
