We Need One Another!

Nancy Eberts – Eberts Harvesting Inc.

As I make supper, I can hardly believe I have been here a little over a week!

We were blessed with every acre planted here in Sharon Springs and Goodland (a first this year). If things go well, we will be finished this evening! The Kansas wind and heat kept things going and everyone’s eyes were always on the sky. We were affected by hail but not, by any means, a wipe-out.

Snaps from Dylan always make me smile.

It’s been cut, eat, sleep, repeat but that has actually been a treat!

These kind of pictures never get old and I have been taking them for 37 years!

This last week, we have had the camper lot basically to ourselves. The clothesline is all mine…lol   It seems no one uses it but me. It is always here that I miss Miss Janie Tupper! She’d always have a story and would share the clothesline. I have been on the road 37+ years and often think about those ladies who have gone before me; Janie being just one of many. I know some of today’s conveniences weren’t around for them years ago – like cell phones, for instance. When I was raising kids on the harvest run, I always knew somebody was watching out for them.

Open plains and moving equipment is always more effective (and an efficient use of time) with the headers on!

I miss all of them we’d see along the journey and am grateful the HarvestHERs have filled a void.  We, as women on the harvest trail, simply need one another.

For instance, last week Tracy texted me to meet her for lunch on their way through Sharon. It was fun to catch up! Megan Klinnert and I were trying to meet up but she ended up going home because her grandmother passed away. So, you know prayers went with her.  Today, Laura Haffner messaged hoping to run into me as she was passing through Goodland. Even though it didn’t happen (we were back in Sharon cutting), how cool is it to receive almost daily texts from HarvestHERs checking in?

Another recently received text was from Emma Schneider sharing her wonderful news! “Went in for first ultrasound today. Baby is measuring 12 weeks, 6 days but she said baby’s head is measuring 13 weeks! She gave due date of Jan 15 💗 I thought baby would be here the 12th, so right on schedule! Heart beating at 165 bpm! Baby was so very active. I told Evan that baby’s taking after him already! Somersaulting, twisting and turning, and stretching!!! Was hard to get a good, clear picture and hold still enough to get baby’s heartbeat 💕 I am in love.”

A good week of HarvestHER love to help with the harvester stress!

Thank you and God Bless us all.
